BISHOP OYEDEPO GIVES DAUGHTER OUT IN MARRIAGE

drshogo.blogspot.com
The time is 6am and today's date is March 22nd 2013(yawns). i have no choice but to wake up early today to write about the wedding engagement of the first daughter of the presiding bishop of living faith church popularly known as winners chapel,Bishop David Oyedepo. Since i promised my readers and followers on facebook that you will gwt the full aproko today......my word is my bond.
The traditional wedding between Love Oyedepo and Steve Ogah took place at the prestigious hall of faith academy inside canaanland and yours truly was there! not just as an observer but as the emcee of the occasion!wow, what an awesome privilege to compere an event of such magnitude, still basking in in d euphoria that am the official emcee of the trad wedding, little did i know that i was gonna pass through the valley of shadow of arguements with the "alaga iduros"(thats the yoruba emcee for traditional wedding) with their gele(head gears) cascading the atmosphere like skyscarppers of new york city, they contended with me that"on such occasions like this, they dont need an emcee like me....blah blah" like a goat to d slaughter i had to give them the mic coz they were actually three in number with same uniform,i quickly reminded myself of what d bible said about 3,a three fold cord is not easily broken!lol. so rather than allow them end my career,i released and mic to them  and consulted the committee(we like committes in Naija) that hired me for the event since by the grace of God,i did not lobby for the job.
what the alaga iduros forgot is that" big men do their things in big ways and big ways are not d convential ways"(dr shogo,2013). to the glory of God,it was resolved amicably with smiles on d face of both parties involed. they handled the traditional yoruba part while i anchored the english segment of the event.
Right from the gate of faith academy, canaanland,it was a serious security conscious environment(bible sef talk am,watch and pray) with men of state security service mounting the gate....trust me i no fit carry last,as i approached d gate in my car,i wind down d glass with confidence and in papa's voice i roared "God bless you" not knowing who i was...they gave me express access into the school premises. you needed to see the way i was feeling cool with myself(giggles),not knowing that there was another hurdle of securuty apparatus to be passed. This time around,it wasn't the police nor mopol neither was it d Nigerian Army, stop guessing, alas it was BOUNCERS. O Jesus of Nazareth,i have been seeing bouncers before but this one no get part 2,their chest and built was like that of Mount Zion that cannot be easily removed!so i reasoned within myself that the trick that worked at the gate will not work here o. chai, their faces were not friendly at all, so i humbly called my contact person in the committee to take me in....
Entering the hall....it was still in d making and i had this heaven on earth experience. have been seeing decorations, but this one was royalty at its peak. the hall was sparkling with lights of different color and i remembered growing up as a child watching the formation of rainbow in the skyline...summary,d decoration was spulufic!donrt ask me d meaning.
On the band was the Speechless band from Ilorin,i heard they are one of the best if not the best musical band in kwara state. they sang so well.
The grooms's family was introduced by the alaga iduro and eventually,th groom was ushered into the hall dressed in a beautiful aso-oke agbada and supported by his friends. He proceeded straight to the bride's family side in d hall to request for Love's hand in marriage, the koko of the matter is that he prostrated 3 good times to "beg" to marry Love Oyedepo. The alaga did a wonderful job moderating this aspect of the program.
....And the grand entry of the bride,Love Oyedepo. Kim Kardashan would have been green with envy if she was around!d bride steps out from a lovly state of art mercedez benz locomotive device. My brethren see paparazzi, flashes here and there, people with iphones, ipads, galazy tabs digital and non digital camera all scrambbled to take a photo shot of the pretty bride. it was a tug of war getting d lady of the moment into d hall bcoz the stampede of the photographers, video men cannot be describbed,it was overwhelming. At last,i was able to  organise the bride's friends to form two lines as they danced into the hall.....my fingers are aching me from typing o! let me summarise, she danced to her parents side for prayers and did same to the grooms parent before going to sit majestically beside her groom.
i had the singular honor to invite to the microphone one of Bishop Oyedepo's spiritual sons for the word of exhortation in the person of Pastor Paul Eneche of the Dunamis International Gospel Church,Abuja.. here is a summary of the message he said"we live in a world where people go into marriage for wrong reasons such as age is not on their side,to fulfill their sexual desire,or just because of peer and parental pressure. He stated that marriage is more than that..and he listed 5 reasons and benefits of marriage
1.betterment of value; enhancement of worth. the worst thing that can happen to anybody is to get married and be devalued
2.supply of companionship; for elimination of isolation
3.supply of help; everyindividual has an area of helplessness. identify the area of your partners need
4. foe maximization of potential, purpose, impact and result. anywhere marriage is working, potentials are multiplied
5. for fulfilment of destiny
Bishop Abioye prayed for the couple while Bishop Aremu prayed for the food. Food and drinks laid down their lives for the tummy of all that were present and there was nothing like shortage of food or drink. Important dignitaries too numerous to mention were present,i remember acjnowledging quite a lot of them.
i have to go now, today is the bridal shower, its a youth affair with friends of the couple. Dress code is blue jeans and white shirt or top. i have to prepare now as am anchoring the event as well. o ma rocky! i promised you pictures..................find them below and also pls drop your comments on this write up. thankyou for taking your time to read this short summary of how the traditional wedding went, i love you all. dr shogo.(forgive all my errors and puctuation,am in a hurry)
